Catalog Files - Detailed Description
Overview
BuyerQuest provides a framework supporting Differentiated Catalog Pricing in the BuyerQuest Marketplace - where product pricing can be differentiated according to buying group, site, or location. A product can be featured in multiple catalogs and listed at a different price in each catalog, with each catalog mapped to one or more content groups.
Differentiated pricing serves the needs of Group Purchasing Organizations (known as GPOs) and franchised buying organizations, allowing suppliers to upload product catalogs featuring different negotiated terms and pricing based on the buying group.
Common Fields Catalog Supports Differentiated Catalog Pricing
The Common Fields Catalog file upload enables implementation of Differentiated Catalog Pricing. In the Common Fields file, a separate line must be included for each unique catalog/price combination, with the product sku repeated. A number of different record upload scenarios are listed below.
Use Case | SKU | price | catalog | Result |
1 SKU, 1 catalog | 123 | 1.00 | US | SKU "123" will be uploaded to catalog "US". If the product was associated to different catalogs, it will be removed from those catalogs and will be associated to the catalog "US" |
1 SKU, Multiple catalogs | 123 | 1.00 | EU|NA | SKU "123" will be uploaded to catalog "EU" and "NA". If the product was associated to different catalogs, it will be removed from those catalogs and will be associated to the catalog "EU" and "NA" |
1 SKU, No catalog | 123 | 1.00 | NULL | If no value is specified for 'catalogs', SKU "123" will be uploaded to the lowest Catalog ID. If the product was tied to different catalogs, it will be removed from those catalogs and will be associated to the the lowest Catalog ID. |
1 SKU, 2 prices, Multiple catalogs requires multiple rows in the Common Fields file, one for each unique price/catalog combination |
123 | 2.00 | HI|AK | SKU "123" will be uploaded to catalog "HI" and "AK" with the price of 2.00. |
123 | 3.00 | NY | SKU "123" will be uploaded to catalog "NY" with the price of 3.00. |
Catalogs Mapped to Content Groups
Catalogs are mapped to Content Groups in the Supplier record. See Catalog Filter in the Manage Supplier Information topic for details on Catalog to Content Group mapping.
Catalog to Content Group mappings may also be imported and exported. See the topics Content Group to Catalog Mapping Import and Content Group to Catalog Mapping Export.
Prices Display Specific to Buyers as Members of Content Groups
Members of a Content Group will see prices from the catalogs to which their Content Groups are mapped. When a Buyer has access to more than one catalog listing a product, they will see the lowest price from the catalogs they have access to.
